Bursting with Thanks & Still Voting for a Healthy Library

Thank you to all our supporters!!

The adopt a school campaign continues until 11:59pm tomorrow night.

Please continue to support your friendly neighbourhood public school!

Hearts are bursting with thanks at W.E. Gowling!  There is so much to be thankful for but the obvious is the support of friends, family, neighbours and community throughout the Adopt a School campaign.  We now have over 400 books donated - wow!  We have a support base of almost 700 adopters/voters, some of whom have been here since the start of the campaign almost three weeks ago and some of whom are new this week.  Gowling is grateful for every single supporter.

This week in the library we read The Thanksgiving Door by Debby Atwell - photo above.  It's a heart-warming story about an immigrant family's first Thanksgiving with uninvited guests looking for a meal because theirs was burned. The evening ends after a time of generously sharing and celebrating with each other and making new friends.  The other photos are signs of autumn and Thanksgiving around Gowling which is indeed a thriving school with students from over 50 different countries, sharing, celebrating, learning and making new friendships.  What an incredible place to be!
A thank you quote from one of our students: "Have you ever had that special feeling holding your favourite new book? Your donation made me feel that way. Thank you for adopting our school."  D.M.

Remember When?

Remember when...

We had no idea how much our community cared about W.E. Gowling?

We had $0/child for library books this year?

We had the "lofty" dream of being one of the top ten schools in the Indigo Adopt a School Campaign?

Well...

That's the distant past and we are leap years ahead of all expectations!

We are in 5th place in Ontario!!

and we are still...

 DREAMING BIG!

Please help us get to our 350 book goal and reach for one of the top 3 spots in Ontario

That's right, we're 10 days into our daily count down to the Gowling Christmas & Holiday Craft Show, and there are 38 more days until you can come check this and the other 59 awesome vendors.

Studio 3.1415
Studio 3.1415 is the creative outlet of owner Heather Orpana, where she combines her love of math and science with artistic vision in polymer clay. Artistic techniques include Mokume Gane, or Japanese wood grain, complex Kaleidoscope canes, and modern abstract applications. Most of her polymer clay work ends up as contemporary jewelry: pendants, earrings and bracelets. She also works in mathematical beading and creates geometric forms such as dodecahedrons that can be enjoyed as focal pieces or ornaments. Other artistic expressions include ornaments and magnets.

40 Days - Second Installment - Recreated Designs at the Gowling Christmas & Holiday Craft Show

Today is another one of those lucky days where we give you an EXTRA sneak peek into the amazing vendors you will find at our craft show on November 14th at W.E. Gowling Public School.

Recreated Designs

The motto at Recreated Designs is reclaimed + repurposed = recreated. I love to recreated anything that has been discarded and is no longer useful in it's current state. All that I do at Recreated Designs involves paint to remake a wide variety of items into beautiful, functional and affordable home decor and furniture.
